So Why "kowabunga dude"?

Once upon a long time ago when the "modern" TBird Race Team was really new, somebody suggested that we start writing a monthly column about the race team in our newsletter, The Towline. (how's that for dating yourself - we remember the days before chairlifts!) That suggestion was the genesis of my monthly tirade called "The Racer's Edge".

In the very first column, I started my rant and carried on until I ran out of stuff to rant about. At the end, I realized that I needed some kind of closing tag line! That was where I just grabbed at a line I had been using the winter before: KOWABUNGA! Hence the tag line "so like Kowabunga Dude!" was born.
