Why I Trade Music...

Basically, I use trading shows to meet a few simple objectives:

To become acquainted with an artist or group that I know nothing about. This is how I got into Soul Coughing. I bought their greatest hits package and got a show. After listening a while, I bought all of their commercial releases. Make a suggestion about a band you know that you might think I should know about, maybe that suggestion will lead to a trade!
To get shows from artists I have never had the opportunity to see. I didn't get to see most of the artists and groups I revered in my childhood. I was too young and broke to go see them. That somewhat muddy sounding show from the mid- to late 60's might be pure heaven to me.
To get shows that others might want so that I can trade them for shows that I really want.

One express NON-GOAL of trading is the anal collection of every show of every band on my list. I never got into this to collect every String Cheese Incident, Phish or Grateful Dead show that was ever played. How damn many versions of Casey Jones can one guy ever hope to listen to anyway? Do I want that one more show of Medeski, Martin and Wood you have? Maybe. Maybe not. Sell me that show, why do I really, really NEED that show?

Our Lady of the Perpetual BnP

Yup. I am the "Rev." Dennis Parrott. I have my own "church", Our Lady of the Perpetual BnP. At this "church" you can almost always get me to take on a BnP request (if you ask nicely). That last part is the key. Momma always taught ya to mind your manners, right? Here at Our Lady of the Perpetual BnP good behavior is a must. The other point worth noting is that all "members" of the "church" (basically all who come here to get a BnP or do a trade are "members of the church") are required to go forth and spread the love (the music) around. So once you've come here to get the tunes, you must go spread the tunes.

The express goal of this "church" is to try to spread happiness through music. More music = more love = more peace.

Trading Rules

Every establishment has its rules, right. Same here.

Be nice. Ask nice. If you are rude, ignorant, belligerent, incompetent, or in any way offend the sensibilities of the "Rev.", I reserve the right to tell you to bag it, bucko.
I refuse to burn "NO NAME" junk CD-Rs. I just took in some refugee-status CD-Rs ("Plasmon"??) that I couldn't burn reliably at anything higher than 4x. People, I have a 40x Plextor CD burner so that this stuff GOES FAST. Don't send me your junk. If you do, I may just send it back.
Trades are always preferred over BnPs. Got anything on a list? I'll try to find something on it we can swap.

Don't just add "extras" for me to burn with a BnP I offered up on etree!! I recently had a fellow send me several extra discs when I was already burning a 7 disc set for 53 people!! Ahhh, hmmmm....
